Yes! I am absolutely voting for the Charter Amendment!

I was actually pretty uncertain about it when I first read about it (the lack of funding and everything) but since Rich, Nathalie, Jasmyne, and the rest of the Stranger staff have repeatedly assured me it promotes sweeps of the camps soiling our parks and sidewalks I'm 100% behind it.

Walking around this city it's fairly obvious Seattle needs more brooms!

If the Compassion Seattle proposal has twice the number of necessary signatures, it will pass.
I was neutral on it, and to a large extent still am -
However, in the last year, the green belt below me has had 2 fires- 1 last year, the other 1 month ago resulting in 2 deaths.
Plus, a shooting at the Rainier Ave #7 bus stop, and 2 shootings on Beacon Hill not far from the Red Apple - you get the idea.

I hope you are right. The Compassion Seattle charter amendment has more signatures than the ballot initiative to repeal the head tax.
When faced with the head tax repeal the SCC abruptly realized they didn't want it on the ballot and repealed the head tax themselves.
They won't be able to deflect this away though.

This could attract a high enough turn-out in November to get Sara Nelson elected to the council and hopefully a sane mayor.

Unfortunately we'll still probably be stuck with Pete Holmes as Ann Davison doesn't appear to be running a serious campaign.
