The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Seattle unions and wishes Kshama Sawant the very best in retaining her office and moving ever forward with her city agenda.

2

Is this a joke? Did the Solidarity campaign just write up a press release repeating their debunked and bullshit accusations of the Recall effort and these people signed it? If they are so in support of Sawant could they not take the time to actually write something original? This is embarrassing both for solidarity campaign and these unions if this is best defense they have against the recall.

I'm a former member of one of the unions here named as authors, and it is not the only union to have represented me in Seattle. This editorial does not speak for me.

"It was Sawant's very involvement in that fight for a better Seattle that led to the current recall attack against her."

It was her repeated and unrepentant abuses of the office to which voters of District 3 had entrusted to her which led to the current recall effort (not "attack against her"). While I can understand why her supporters do not want to talk about her serial abuses of power, those abuses are indeed the only reason for the recall, and if the recall election goes forward, her repeated abuses of power will be the topic of our civic dialog.

"On April 1, the Recall Campaign said the backers of the campaign want to avoid the recall appearing on November’s general election ballot because too many people vote in general elections."

Actually, they had clearly said they wanted an election which was about only her abuses of power, and that was why they originally aimed for a special election. From the link: '“This is about her, not about electing someone,” Bridger said Thursday at the Cal Anderson press conference when asked about the strategy.' They have since said they want to have the recall appear on the November ballot. (Apparently, actually knowing what the recall campaign wants wasn't a requirement in speaking for them.)

"...suppress the voices of District 3..."

This is a flat-out lie, and The Stranger never tires of repeating it. No matter what the date of any election, every voter in District 3 will receive a post-paid ballot in the mail. There is no voter suppression here, and the organizations named as authors of this post should not claim any voter suppression exists here.

"As union members, we believe in democratic principles."

Then you should be praising the recall efforts, not repeating discredited lies about them.

@2: And, of course, The Stranger includes an image of CM Sawant posing with actual workers. This editorial would have greatly benefited from an image of CM Sawant actually doing something on behalf of actual workers, but for some reason, her die-hard supporters here at The Stranger are never quite able to produce such an image. (As they run a modern publication, I have no idea why their Photoshop skills are so limited...)

I'm not in that district so won't be able to vote on that, but I applaud this statement and Sawant's genuine commitment to stand up to the 1%. I, too, see through this phony recall paid by the developers.

Pay no mind to hate-monger and closet-Nazi "tensor" who makes up all kinds of shit on these boards and is 24/7 obsessed with their own red-baitingm McCarthyite bile-campaign on Sawant; HE is tied to the development interests and, in short, paid to post against Sawant, who he is literally obsessed with hatred over.

He has spent the greater part of the last decade on the The Stranger boards, with a group of far right-wing sock puppets -- and yes, he is a total lying dick brain and your otherwise run-of-the-mill, hallucinating, brown shirt POS. So don't be fooled if you even bothered to read his bullshit.

@8 BTW if the council member ever gets threats or hate mail - their people should definitely trace the "tensor" account and their sock puppets to see if they're involved. He is definitely a very disturbed person - also a misogynist - and possibly in the throes of clinical psychosis. The evidence is in their many, many, many posts.

@9: That was a pretty impressive string of drunkpostings, especially when considering the drunken trail you simultaneously left here: https://www.thestranger.com/news/2021/07/14/59065522/the-strangers-endorsements-for-the-august-3-2021-primary-election/comments?page=2

My outing of your status and purpose here, as a Socialist Alternative member spreading that organization's propaganda, must've really hurt. (Although I do envy your privilege of getting that completely snockered -- on a Monday night, no less! It's been more than a few years since I could regularly do that, alas.)

'...if the council member ever gets threats or hate mail - their people should definitely trace the "tensor" account ...'

Sending nasty messages is work fit only for an utterly miserable, pathetic loser. If I really wanted to harass CM Sawant, here's what I would do: I would reveal her personal address to persons who have no right to that information; I would have those very same persons organize an angry crowd to assemble in front of her personal residence; I would myself deliver an incendiary speech to that angry crowd -- thus, I would personally attack her in her own home! -- and then I would do absolutely nothing as that ugly crowd I'd just riled reacted by assaulting her family's residence. After that, I would publicly lie without shame about this entire series of events I'd created, and I would even send gullible followers out in public, to lie for me as well.

Were I ever to degrade myself sufficiently to engage in any or all of those truly despicable acts, would it adequately demonstrate my perfidy to you? Or would I have to go even lower? Please do tell.

11

@10 Please do go on, and share with the board what you're all about.

BTW to anyone else reading - I wasn't "outed" for anything one way or the other. This poster is just making shit as he usually does (and why you shouldn't take their word on anything else he pulls out of his asanine imaginings; for example, this sudden claim of union alliances).

Yes, he's your run-of-the-mill scumbag. Proving, too, what I pointed out earlier - a deeply sick-minded and obsessed far-right wing McCarthyite. He also hates the homeless and has expressed very vile forrms of bigotry, and regarding basic civil rights, and sometimes cloaked under a veneer of "compassion" and "moral outrage" and hypocritical posturing.

It would be interesting to find out who pays him to post. He lives 24/7 on these boards like a rat swimming around in the sewage drains of Seattle, one of his most fanatic "issues," in addition to arresting anyone poor in a public park (who he asserts "take up space" and don't have the same right as anyone else to a piece of lawn), his deranged hatred and bile for Kshama Sawant -- and his obsession with this corrupt recall campaign.

Again, I strongly urge her office to examine and trace his account - and to identify this individual calling himself "tensor" - i.e. if she's received any threats or hate mail.

12

@11 -- If you have absolutely no problem with a politician actually appearing, with a like-minded crowd, at a family's private residence so as to threaten, bully, and harass a political opponent there, then why are you so hung up on the thought of someone else sending mere words? If you yourself are not getting assigned/paid/compensated to write here, then why are you so quick to accuse another commenter of it? If you're not a Socialist Alternative member, intentionally here to present yourself falsely as a disinterested observer, then why did you type so many very angry comments in such a short time after getting described as such?

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

As for your supposed concern about my sending "hate mail," I'll quote myself to you as many times as necessary: sending nasty messages is work fit only for an utterly miserable, pathetic loser. If I was truly a despicable individual, then I would do exactly as CM Sawant and Socialist Alternative did to Mayor Durkan and family.

But I would never go that low.

Have a nice life.

I spent A LOT of time in discussion with this individual, reaching out - attempting to engage in good faith, rational and courteous discussion. I found they are fully and intractably incapable, and even downright creepy. He's a foaming-at-the-mouth, manipulatively lying and dishonest, hateful, right-wing fanatic. He's also a misogynist.

Well, even though I'm incredibly patient person, I finally had enough of their bullshit along with the rest of his right-wing sock-puppets on this board. But anyone truly in good-faith interested ("good faith," a concept totally foreign to this board-creep) can find those discussions for themselves. My posts along speak for myself - no one else speaks for me.

And you can certainly find out what he's all about if you read enough of his bullshit. Indeed, I encourage you to, especially if you're with Sawant's office and she's received threats of harm.

14

Same folks who bankrolled corporate shill Egan Orion are paying for the recall. Sawant won a democratic election, she should serve her elected term. Let's not go down the rabbit hole of recalling everyone who we don't agree with, and manipulating the timing of the election to guarantee a low-voter turnout. It is fundamentally undemocratic.

15

@14: "Sawant won a democratic election, she should serve her elected term."

Mayor Murray had won a democratic election. CM Sawant called upon Murray to resign, and threatened Murray with impeachment if he did not resign. (https://www.thestranger.com/slog/2017/08/01/25318254/city-council-does-jack-shit-as-more-people-call-for-murrays-resignation)

So perhaps CM Sawant should have set a better example of respecting our democracy?

Like I said: "he."
