"About 85% of wildfires are caused by humans"

I don't doubt this is true with respect to the number of individual wildfires occurring in Washington, most of which are small and quickly contained. But looking at involved acreage and scale of response, the majority of large wildfires active in the state at the moment were actually caused by lightning (which is typical). These fires include:

Cedar Creek, Delancy, and Varden Creek: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7655/
Summit Trail: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7677/
Whitemore: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7776/
Pincer Creek: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7776/
Schenider Springs: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7775/

This doesn't mean folks should ignore burn bans--resources are stretched awful thin right now--but we will continue to experience large, destructive wildfires from natural causes unless fire mitigation efforts are substantially increased in the coming years.

I wouldn't mind if Texas and all other blood-red neofascist Taliban states of confusion get burned down this weekend, while Greg Abbott gets butt-fucked for eternity in hell.
