"You won't need to pair this proof with any other form of personal identification."

Lol so this is just for show.

Just download any of these: https://bit.ly/39e0LQ6

It's just a google image search of vaccine cards. Nothing nefarious.

'bout time. Or maybe two months ago was 'bout time. So let me restate: better late than never.

I'll be curious about the enforcement. But even if this proves unenforceable, it's still a step in the right direction. The one downside I can anticipate is some anti-vax sociopath making a scene and possibly even physically confronting the service worker doing the checking.

@1 @2 @4 Just curious. What's your problem with this? You not vaxxed?

6

I have no problem with it, though I think a good trade off would be to ease up on masks where everyone has to be vaccinated.

I just think if you are going to make it easy for someone to skirt then why do it in the first place?

7

Why no photo ID requirement with the vax card or negative test result? That means anyone could hand someone a photo of someone else's card, and, if they're paying in cash, how's a restaurant (for ex) supposed to know?

As for the guy whose STD provoked an international incident, hopefully (at least) some of his other partners will find out. But if you think the vaccine will give you all the symptoms of gonorrhea, maybe it's time for a h.s. level sex education class -- coupled with h.s. biology. (Some counseling might be in order, too, if you just can't own up to why your Special Other "really" broke off the wedding.)

Impressive statistics, though, from UW on the ID requirements (though they should tighten up the ID stuff more).

A big problem with all of this too - though King County vax rates are higher -- delta is extremely contagious and there are increasing breakthrough reports, including hospitalization and death. Also, covid is not like a cold or flu - but an infection of the brain and central nervous system. You do NOT want to be infected with delta, even if it's seemingly an asymptomatic or mild case.

For the vaccinated, that should raise flags (too) on how quickly the 3rd shot is being rolled out. Studies are showing Pfizer (at least - not sure about Moderna which performs better against Delta - at least, initially) wanes to about 40% effectiveness against infection itself in 4 mths. So after 4 months, you're not really "fully vaccinated." And the Biden admin is considering a roll-out at 8 months, leaving tens of millions with quite a gap, and against the backdrop of these mass reopenings, particularly schools where it's going to spread like wildfire, even under the best of the circumstances, with all these unvaxed children -- not to mention, the infrastructure of our hospital system. Doesn't anyone have anything else they'd like to see a doctor about - or go to a hospital for?

People should be calling the White House and demanding a roll-out at 4 mths, not 8. They should also be a lot more concerned about normalizing the mass infection of millions of unvaccinated children, or even themselves, if they've been vaccinated with the maximum number of shots thus far.

And you ALL need to be wearing well-fitting KN95s or N95s. Even the CDC has caught up to this mask information with respect to Delta. If you are vaxed and infected with delta - perhaps unknowingly - you are initially just as contagious as someone who isn't vaxed. Why labor unions aren't making employers either raise salaries so employees can afford this otherwise significant cost in mask protection - or have employers provide these more expensive masks free of cost - is bewildering to me, under the circumstances. Especially in enlightened King County, Not to mention normalizing the mass infection of millions of children.

We also need to be putting the pressure on for covid home tests to GREATLY drop in price, if not be available for free. Other countries have these things for roughly the equivalent of 2-3 dollars in large bins with plenty available. Here, they're more like 30 dollars, and there are many people who need to be testing themselves regularly -- not to mention the fact that if you're sick with a fever, you need to go to bed, not spending 1/2 day or longer trying to find and get to a free test site.

"Relevant companies must comply by October 25, though "restaurants with seating capacity for 12 and under" can wait until December 6"

Shouldve been done as soon as vaccines were available to everyone, so let's wait even longer!

All of this is so exhausting. Even the non-evil state and local governments are bungling this.

9

@7 Also - on the 3rd shot. After efficacy has dropped at 4 mths to roughly 40% against infection itself -- with Pfizer, the 3rd shoots it up again and to about 95% -- and in just 12 days!! That is considered an impressive result and I hope people wake up and tell the Biden admin to get those 3rd doses out ASAP -- and for FOUR months, not eight. The hospital system, too, has an interest in seeing this happen.

10

@8 Agreed. What is so difficult about this? Why would anyone need so much time either way? It's probably easier to implement if you're a smaller restaurant. They should stop coddling trouble-makers.

11

@7: You want ID and vaccination card comparisons by the limited and overworked staff, often in blaring music and commotion, to stress them out even more?

The honor system is the only real way in the final analysis.

12

@11 "The honor system is the only real way in the final analysis."

Reeeaaallly hard to do when we keep using the kid gloves on people who have no honor.

14

@13 Lol settle down.

"Advising people to fake their vaccine cards is illegal." No it isn't.

I'm simply pointing out who this is all just safety theater and anyone with a computer could figure out a way to fake it.

16

@14 But how would you design a foolproof system that's truly feasible in the real world? Sure, these rules can be gamed. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. But think about it a bit: Circumventing a vaccine requirement everywhere one goes, again and again, day after day, week after week, entails both real risk and emotional stress (remember, presenting a false vaccination card is a crime, and you never know when you'll run into someone who's trained to spot them, or who recognizes you and knows that's not your name on the card). For all but the truly hard-core MAGA types who are determined to risk their lives going into crowded public spaces no matter what just to own the libs, it may be just the incentive a lot of people need to put aside their unserious, half-baked objections and get the shot. I'm certain this requirement will be at least 90 percent effective, and that's enough to make a difference. (Thank God. Back to the gym at last!)

17

@3:

Why? Are you afraid some dimwitted, slack-jaw is going to download one of those and try to pass it off as theirs? Wouldn't that be a terrible shame, since almost all of them lack identifying information, so it's going to look pretty funny when bubba shows up at a Seahawks game trying to pass off a picture of a blank or unsigned vaccine card that doesn't have his name on it.

Is that actually what you're afraid might happen?

19

@16 I don't think it has to be foolproof, but maybe just add 1 extra step where you make sure the card is for the person.

20

If they serve you intoxicants they already have to get photo ID, so it's not like you won't need it at a bar or beer garden.

21

@20 I'm in my upper 30s and am rarely carded anymore outside of something closer to a nightclub.
