So what was bad about Bruce Harrell's weekend? The Seattle Times article had nothing disparaging and a maskless moment caught on camera hasn't been a formula for a gotcha take down in the press for a long time. Witness Gavin, Nancy, and Joe.
@2, not a good look for him to bail on the forum. even if he thinks the moderator would not be impartial (which is an insult to the moderator), does he not believe enough in his own policies to advocate for them in the face of such perceived impartiality?
if you want to govern the people, you probably shouldn't run from them
I truly hope that first home benefit only goes to first generation families. Give them a nice chunk of change and help them get started. For everyone else (myself included), tough toe nails.
@7, he would still he responsible for governing the people who did not vote for him. Is he going to run away from addressing their concerns because they didnt support him? That's not leadership.
You just keep telling yourself that, despite the recommendations of literally every credible health professional saying otherwise. And when you're gasping out your last breath in the ICU with that ventilator tube shoved down your throat, maybe you'll use those last precious moments of your pathetic existence to reflect on the stupidity of your statement.
No reason you couldn't do both a school and housing. If you can build a high-rise with the first couple floors being retail and the rest residential, couldn't you likewise build a high-rise with the first couple floors being a school and the rest residential?
If you want to significantly increase the density of a neighborhood, you'll need to add more schools. And if you're trying to increase density, it doesn't make sense to have a small, freestanding school building taking up a chunk of land. If you can combine retail & residential in one building, there is no reason you couldn't combine school & residential.
@4/7 He didn't bail on the forum. He ended up participating once Erica was replaced as the moderator. I would guess based on your responses though you'd have an even harsher view of Gonzales as she refused to engage at all when the Downtown Seattle Association asked mayoral candidates to provide thoughts on how they would look to relaunch the downtown business core earlier this year. Instead of addressing their questions she chastised them and continued the rhetoric that has come to define the council that large business is the devil (even though they drive much of the economic activity in the city).
So yah, Bruce had problems with a biased, gotcha reporter moderating a forum and Lorena thinks the entire Downtown Association isn't worth her time. I'll let you decide which will be most detrimental to the city.
Stranger staff: Your obsessively bashing Bruce Harrell makes you look worse than he looks. It hints of desperation, not confidence. Harrell is not ideal and merits scrutiny like any candidate does: absolutely. But he also merits fairness, not hope he trips up, ostensibly to help Gonzalez win. She's behind for a reason, and your "help" isn't helping much.
@18 I'd love to believe bad polling is what is behind the negative slant of the Gonzales campaign but if you have watched how she runs the council I think you'd see that is just how she is to her antagonists. Mayor Murray was notorious for holding grudges and using his political clout for payback and I have no doubt a Gonzales administration would also take a "you're either with me or you're my enemy" disposition. To those that complain the Durkan administration lacks transparency and accountability Lorena would say "hold my beer".

While Barnett doesn't have a newspaper, she does have a pretty significant following.

14, I think no matter who gets elected we will all still be here bitching about the same stuff. Stranger writers included
Rich, I thank heavens for you--as always. Reckon you'd kill it at karaoke, bud.
