I love how the capitalists blame everything except capitalism on the failure of workers to return to their shitty capitalist jobs.

Competition in the free market's a bitch, yo.

It's almost like capitalists don't actually LIKE it when they're forced into capitalism... what a surprise.

3

The billionaire oligarchs are scared shitless of NTK. I can’t recall the last time a candidate has been the target of a more dishonest, hysterical smear campaign.

4

Whatever NTK does or does not do is not going to affect the "billionaire oligarchs". I doubt they really give a damn about her.

On the other hand, a lot of people are concerned about her abolitionist approach to crime which kind of sounds a lot like "open season on all our stuff." Most of us do not feel that it is OK to steal whatever you want just because you are poor. I don't think that is a radical notion although I am sure I'll be called a fascist for it in no time.

She is, however, the lesser of two evils when the other choice is someone with either the Trumpiness or the plain old poor judgment to have become a Republican under the Orange Reign of Terror. Hopefully NTK will be elected, and the cops will just file all the misdemeanors in county court, where she can't do anything about it.

And based on the campaign literature that has been filling up my mailbox, I would say that EVERY candidate this year as been the target of dishonest hysterical smear campaigns. This election has been a new low for the City.

6

Meh, pour one out for the actual "moderate" candidate, Pete Holmes. NTK is more like where you go so far left that you wrap around to the other end of the spectrum and start owning guns, consider buying a rifle, and thinking that all law enforcement is out to get you. She has more in common with Cliven Bundy than she does with the average Seattleite.

7

@3 you are so full of shit. Name one dishonest thing that has been used against NKT. You can’t because it’s her own words that are her undoing. The notion that she is the moderate in this race is fucking laughable. Even Primila Jayapal, the leader of the Progresive caucus, wanted no part in endorsing the shit show that will unfold if NKT wins next week. I know Charles loves to throw shit on the wall to be provocative but if he and TS get their way there are going to be some real people who are harmed and they won’t be the billionaire class.

8

@2,

Wut?

9

As with so many races in Seattle, where the menu is so dreary, I held my nose and voted. In the CA race, which has no qualified candidate, I held my nose and voted Davison. Davison is unpalatable, but NTK in undigestible.

10

IS undigestible.

11

@3: I can't recall when a candidate hailed arson, property destruction, and called police Nazis and pigs on Twitter.

12

I've never received uglier campaign flyers - and so many times - than the ones I'm receiving regarding Nicole Thomas Kennedy. There's the real Willie Horton ads of the race.

The funders are exposed here in this Seattle DSA tweet:
https://twitter.com/SeattleDSA/status/1453124415923707909

There were some other unsavory types too I read about.

She is, BTW, endorsed by Mike McGinn and MLK Labor along with literally hundreds of attorneys. Among just a few groups who support her candidacy.

I would never "hold my nose" to vote for a person who was inspired to become a Republican by Donald Trump, possibly the most uncivil politician in U.S. history - not to mention, one of most corrupt - behind the siege on the capital, boasted about being able to publicly murder Americans without consequences, mocked disabled people, accused of raping over 20 women including a child, and whose henchmen have waged racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, and McCarthyite violence and murder across the country under his presidency - including in Seattle.

Not only that, she supports warehousing the homeless in violation of their constitutional rights - like concentration camps - and she's fully unqualified in terms of the relevant court experience.

Why don't they like NTK? Because she opposes a prison for children - and told police when they tear-gassed her own child - they could go eat some covid-laced shit. Well boo hoo. I doubt they're as worried about the police murdering George Floyd or locking children up for 180k per year instead of using that money to truly improve - instead of destroying their lives.

So you know what they can all do with their flyers? Turning HER into a criminal? And while they voted for Donald Trump?

Go eat some covid-laced shit.

This lady got my vote. Along with every other real progressive on the ballot. In the spirit of FDR, I look forward to their pain at having to pay a fairer share of taxes that will support real benefits for regular people. At having representatives in local government who aren't bought - as Davison would be - by wealthy and corrupt real estate interests along with a bunch of neo-fascists in the far right wing.

13

@12 - Clarification - NTK is endorsed by Mike McGinn, that is. Along with the others mentioned.

14

@12 Here is the money behind the elitist Gregoire connection.

15

Ann Davison has already stated that she's a two-time Obama voter, Clinton voter, Biden voter, and condemned January 6th. Aren't we done with the baseless Trump comparison yet? I've honestly been considering changing party affiliation myself for no other reason than to try and primary out the more insane elements of the death cult.

16

Charles and his communist rants remind me of the Joni Mitchell song 'The Last Time I Saw Richard'. Just replace the word 'Romantics' in the lyrics with 'Communists':

"The last time I saw Richard was Detroit in 68
And he told me, "All Communists meet the same fate
Some day, cynical and drunk and boring
Someone in some dark cafe"

17

@15: "Aren't we done with the baseless Trump comparison yet?"

We certainly are.

19

@15 It'd be one thing if her voter's pamphlet statement in 2020 had said something about retaking the Republican Party from the Trump extremists. Unfortunately, her statement is nearly indistinguishable from any of the other Republicans. So she's either being disingenuous now or disingenuous then.

Show me a tweet, a comment, an interview, anything from 2020 where she called out the Republican fealty to Trump, and I might think about it. Otherwise, we have no evidence other than what she put in writing in 2020: "Prefers Republican Party."

20

@19: There are only two viable parties. The fact that Trump has soiled the Republican party does not preclude anyone from joining it, nor is a denunciation of Donald Trump required.

21

@4, 6 and 7 - 100% right. NTK is a nightmare. Tired of the Stranger shilling for these far far left - so left it almost wraps around - candidates.

22

I applaud the Stranger for helping to elect a Trump supporting Republican to attorney of one of the bluest cities in the country. Great job you guys!

23

@20 Perhaps, if she had been a Republican in 2014. Or if she was explicitly running against Trumpism. Kim Wyman is an example of someone who checks the first box and largely checks the second one in terms of her area of expertise, by running on good governance of elections and defending mail-in balloting. I could envision voting for Wyman, though that's a moot point now.

But as late as November 2019, Davison was declaring that she was a Democrat in seeking endorsements to run for Seattle City Council. So we're down to two options. Either she's (a) a political opportunist, changing parties to whatever she thinks is most likely to get elected, or (b) she saw the Republican Party of 2020 and said, "You know what, that's my jam!" Neither one of those is a good look.

24

@20 - the problem is that now that the Republican party is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trump's grift machine, joining it looks a lot like you are endorsing him. Davison's denials have the smell of the rat.

25

Anyone minimally stupid enough to join the Republican Party under Trump is unqualified for any elected office. If the shoe fits, wear it. But it's no secret she's virally supported by the far right and oodles of corrupt money from real estate and developers. I wouldn't be surprised if any number of you with so much time to post your nasty personal attacks at posters on the Stranger - and on behalf of the elections - were taking some of that money yourselves in order to do so. We see your garbage enough at the Seattle Times where you have to even pay to be able to post it. We all know that you say far worse curse words and things than NTK ever tweeted. So give up the act, kiddies.

It is quite true, as posted elsewhere, that NTK's positions as an attorney, someone furthermore with the court experience Davison has none of - in addition to her total lack of empathy and understanding for human being in poverty - and with NTK supported by hundreds of other attorneys who attest to her competancy as an attorney -- are indeed moderate. Her views are backed by literally decades upon decades of sociological and psychiatric findings - by even libertarians before libertarianism became a smoke screen for neo-fascists.

Our current system exacerbates these problems. And the legal system has been incalcitrant to change. She actually wants to get to the root causes of petty crimes of poverty and help people transform their lives. Any property damage would be redressed. The real issue for her well-funded critics - hiding out behind handles on the Stranger - are their taxes because she's not bought by corporate interests like Davison.

Even her tweet about that disgraceful prison was moderate. It's an abomination to human rights. No one was inside at the time. And it never should have been built. If you ever celebrated or recognized Bastille Day, which is considered synonymous to our July 4th - you were celebrating not only the destruction of prison, but far more intense - via armed revolt and storming of the walls itself to free what were mostly the petty "criminals" locked up inside for their "crimes" of poverty. All while people were inside - and in the course of which, human beings were harmed and property damage occured. So, calling that person a hero was putting it mildly in a country that locks up 2.5 million people - more than anywhere else - incljuding hundreds of thousands of innocent children who are brutalized and wronged by adults -- and who belong in the community going to school with other kids - not in prison cells.

Plus it is the height of hypocrisy to grandstand on this subject when your people tried to overturn a democratic election without any evidence whatsoever, advocating the hanging of public officials, while you furthermore assaulted and tortured police officers - one of whom was tazed into a heart attack, called out to acquire & shoot them with their own guns, and tried to instigate an organized coup d'etat in Washington DC.

"She didn't vote for him" - yeah, sure, Jan. Wink, wink. And neither did you.

As for Gregoire and what's-his-face, their endorsements are finished for all time.

26

@25 The prison, BTW, is another reason I didn't choose Constantine but Nyugen. I like some things Constantine's done, but he disgracefully supported that abomination of human rights. Nyugen understands these issues about children in these places much more clearly. He's more humane and uncorrupted. Plus he's not bought like Constantine or entrenched in the "Old World Political Order." And he brings fresh ideas, energy and perspective to the floor.

BTW, I'm not even part of the "Defund the Police" or "Abolish the Police" movement. I vigorously oppose what was done to the police at the Capital. My heart breaks for some of these officers who testified. I certainly support terminating officers who abuse their power and harm or kill people - George Floyd's murderer belongs behind bars - but otherwise, my strongest position right now with respect to their profession is that they get vaccinated and wear masks or face termination. And that position is couched in concerns for them, too, as people, like anyone else, doing a job. Death rates due to covid among police are higher than deaths due to gun violence they encounter on the job. I think their unions have done them a great service by supporting the politization of medicine and science over their members' well-being. I have that view with regard to other forms of employment where people deal with the public whether it's cops, teachers, health workers, the court system, whatever. Get a vaccinated, and wear a mask, or don't let the door hit you.

So I have my law and order positions too. I'm not some stereotype of a wild-eyed crazy the way they've tried to paint this very competent attorney who's trying to change the system from within. Which is commendable. And as a voter, I'm getting really tired of watching these games.
