The Olympic logo is trying too hard to be clever. It's really kind of a mess.

2

"Last year, the liberals had a hay day making fun of the dire situation. Please do not do this. Poorly handled weather disasters are not karma for being a Republican or living in a red state."

Calling out the hypocrisy of people who hate welfare and the federal government and don't want to be a part of the national power grid, and then want federal relief funds when their Galt's Gulch goes tits up is fair game.

3

Good for Hannah for calling out disingenuous snarking on poorly handled weather disasters.

6

Don't mock the people who live there, take their side against the corrupt politicians who will leave them to freeze to death just to preserve the sweetheart deals they've cut for their buddies in the energy industry.

10

So we're cool with Twitter suspending journalists for advocating organized labor protests because we don't like this particular protest?

12

I'm not sure where this straw man came from. Very few liberal news outlets that I saw were mocking random Texans for freezing to death. Most of what I saw were mocking the virulently malicious leadership that put them in the position to freeze to death.

Then again I don't live to exist online. Or on twitter, god forbid.

For instance mocking Ted Cruz for being a craven coward is perfectly cromulent. Deep freeze or not. Targeting Joe Texas Randoms for simple trying to survive in a barbaric backwards region of the country is not.

13

Accepting Wikipedia's definition that Karma is "action, work or deed", it is verifiably true that poorly handled weather disasters are indeed karma for being a Republican.

14

Public safety ...

Crime is DOWN.

If you weren't here during the 80s or 90s like many of us were, you might be gullible enough to believe the LIES that crime is up.

But it's not.

Period.

16

I find that "barbaric" and "backwards" are not cromulent adjectives when describing regions of America.

17

@16 You need to get out more.
There are many places in this country that fit that description.
I've lived in a couple...

18

I'd say regions that have the deaths penalty, banning teaching racism, banning/burning books, restricting voting rights and refuse to protect citizens from the ravages of an infectious disease are text book barbaric.

19

Oh. And I forgot to add the Chef's Kiss: Forcing women to give brith against their will.

Utter barbarism.

20

Well, in every region one can ask whether the glass is half empty of half full. To be a progressive should mean siding with the latter.

"I search “Seattle” to find interesting little tidbits for our beloved readers and I am inundated with COCKS."

I do not get that when I search. Could it be that the algorithm is returning results based on your previous searches?

@2 Brent Gumbo and @5 Yeshua for the WIN!!

@4 & @8 blip: I get what you're saying. I have friends in Texas who vote Democrat and must be shaking their heads every election. I keep hoping they'll flee Texas for a bluer state just so their family--especially their daughters---would all be better off than they are now. Luckily for them, they have their own generator to safeguard against such catastrophic weather disasters such as the 2021 Freeze because they know damned well the GOP loyalists in The Lone Star State are, as you so aptly point out, hellbent on guaranteeing an unlivable environment for those who aren't pro-Trump, corrupt, filthy stinking rich, fossil fuel industry coddling white male.

@18 & @19 RogertheShrubber; I could not agree more. Hear, hear!

@16 & @20: I invite you to visit the confused neofascist blood red States of Dumbfuckistan, complete with barbarian lawlessness, misogyny, racism, gerrymandering, book burning, and food deserts where the only ones making decisions and passing Machiavellian "laws" are corrupt, insanely wealthy white RepubliKKKan men. What would MAGA dolts like you have to lose except everything?

@21a kristofarian: As far as I know they regrettably still are down in blood red neofascist Texibanistan. Unless a new law ends their conglomerate chokehold on printing textbooks for public schools throughout the U.S.
and
@23 kristofarian: Ol' Zucky lost $250 million in one DAY? Awwwwwww......heeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee
Thanks, kris---you just made MY day!

Let's bring missing Indigenous women safely home. Find safe refuge, too, if they are or have been exposed to domestic violence and / or exploitation.

Hannah, is there word yet on whether the vaccinated general public will still require annual COVID vaccines plus a booster? I know that for right now the CDC means for those most vulnerable to get a fourth jab. I'm a vaccinated veteran, got my booster right after Thanksgiving, and have a healthy immune system. I'm just wondering if this will be an annual thing like getting a flu shot.
When I went K-12 we used to get lined up alphabetically by the school nurse for annual immunizations. There was no bullshit about refusing the jab for "religious reasons". We never had breakouts of measles, mumps, or polio. The sickest anyone ever got was a bad cold or the flu. If a fresh batch of Pfizers is ready, I am. Let's do it!

26

@22: No, I'm not a lexographer. But you're not saying, I hope, that progressivism is about negativity and pessimism. Politics, as the saying goes, is about addition - not subtraction.

Unless you stupid bone-headed libs start adding, say goodbye to democracy as you just end up proving the talking points of today's GOP.

28

@26: Hush, lil Elmer, don't say a word.
You're only entertaining Orange Turd     .
As usual your views are full of crap.
I recommend you take a nap.

29

@28: Let's take a break from the usual and define what it means to be a progressive. I'm really curious to know what the term means to you.

30

@29: "Let's take a break from the usual and define what it means to be a progressive."
Well, it sure as my morning dump doesn't define you, ya MAGA-washed ultra maroon.
If you hurry you might still be able to join Swifty, District13, and the rest of the willfully misinformed gang for Polish sausage and cheap beer.
