What are “shrimp leaves?” Did the headline writer omit the comma, or did you, Jas?

My mask stays on, despite all these humans trying to stare down a virus. Tragic loss of life, and it ain’t over yet.

@8:

Are you sure STII is an actual person? I've seen the writings of AI's that were in general more coherent. Perhaps we should apply the Turing Test, just to be certain...

No doubt Satterberg read the room and decided to pack it in. Like Holmes he is going to be challenged from the left and the right. We already know who the NKT candidate is going to be

I'm sure we'll get tons of op-eds from Rich and team about how great he is going to be and how the other candidates are Trump clones in disguise or something along those lines. I will say this first foray is much better than NKT as he is much more discreet about his abolition stance than she was. KC as a whole is much more conservative than Seattle obviously so it will be an uphill battle but I could easily see the race playing out like the city atty. You'll have a choice between the abolitionist and someone who is going to tout being more aggressive on prosecution. If the current criminal trends continue the path to victory is going to be pretty narrow.

Isn’t lemon already citrus? And what are they implying.
Didn’t see one sticker. Where are the stickers.

quick query to the cunning linguists over @ the Citrus Institute -- those sponge cakes—are they made from Real sponges of just spongey flavoured?

Yes, good thing governors are beginning to roll back mask mandates. This is a smart move for democrat governors if they want to help reduce the chances of a bloodbath in the upcoming midterms. I realize masks are important to saving the lives of immunocompromised and unvaccinated but the more seats the republicans gain the more death there's going to be, so there's a long-term tradeoff.

That axe is going to be useless for anything other than making sparks if you don't stop grinding it to a nub everyday.

American Journal of Preventive Medicine, November 2021
"Modeling COVID-19 Mortality Across 44 Countries: Face Covering May Reduce Deaths"
"Results
Average COVID-19 mortality per million was 288.54 in countries without face mask policies and 48.40 in countries with face mask policies. In no mask countries, adjusted average daily increase was 0.1553 – 0.0017 × (days since first case) log deaths per million, compared with 0.0900 – 0.0009 × (days since first case) log deaths per million in the countries with a mandate. Sixty days into the pandemic, countries without face mask mandates had an average daily increase of 0.0533 deaths per million, compared with the average daily increase of countries with face mask mandates, at 0.0360 deaths per million."

"Conclusions
This study's significant results show that face mask mandates were associated with lower COVID-19 deaths rates compared with countries without mandates. These findings support use of face masks to prevent excess COVID-19 deaths, and should be advised during airborne disease epidemics."

Mask mandates save/saved lives.

@16 -- Holmes was the consensus candidate. In a more advanced electoral system, he would have won easily. Activists from the left managed to split the vote in a low turnout off-year primary (no one got close to a majority). I'm sure there were those who just voted with The Stranger endorsements, because in the past they were reasonable. That left those in the general election with a choice between a left-wing idiot and a right-wing idiot (they choose the latter).

Holmes also lost votes because he went after the Seattle Times in defense of the cops. This was a stupid decision, and had nothing to do with his prosecutions (or lack thereof). Even with this obvious failing, Holmes would have easily won a two-person race against Davison.

@16 -- Meanwhile, in the mayoral election, Gonzalez just lost to a better candidate who ran a better campaign. It didn't help that The Stranger editorial board was making stupid decisions, weakening their endorsement. Nor did it help that they were spreading bullshit about Harrell. Bruce Harrell is a strong candidate, and has always been a strong candidate. He is well liked and respected by many, and the strongest candidate to run for mayor since Norm Rice. It is just that Gonzalez would have been better. (Two qualified candidates ran for mayor, usually I'm thrilled to just have one). The inability of Gonzalez to win on the homeless issue was her big failing, and idiotic given their respective history (she supported spending more money on the homeless, Harrell opposed it). Instead she brought up the Murray-rape issue, which backfired (as anyone with any sense would realize). Stupid campaigning, and stupid statements by The Stranger cost her the job. Politics isn't just about making the better decisions, you have to play the game (and she played it poorly).

I always enjoy eating shrimp leaves, but $200 is a bit steep.

STII is there because you shadowbanned STI.

I prefer ST3, who is actually pro-green and pro-growth, as he returns to his original self from pre-2010.

22

THNX for the Covid tests Jas!
is what I Meant to say.

23

@16 he had a challenger from the left but he ended up dropping out because he was ill. He unfortunately passed away not long after the election.

@14: The fellatio reference seems peripheral to your point. What goes on behind closed doors shouldn't bother you.

26

@19 Holmes may have won in approval voting, but he wouldn't have won in instant-runoff. He was in third place and would have been eliminated.
