We have a discussion about addiction, a tribute to a poet, a mystery author reading at two bookstores around town, and much more tonight.

Michael Chabon is reading at Benaroya Hall tonight. There's a Suggest for this popping up soon so I don't want to waste too much bandwidth on this reading here, but let me assure you: A Chabon in person is a wonderful thing.

Jeanne Heuving reads her poetry at Pilot Books tonight, and follows the reading with a poetry workshop. You can read her work here.

Ravenna Third Place hosts Corbin Lewars tonight. Lewars's zine, Reality Mom, is an entertaining little zine about parenthood. Creating a Life: The Memoir of a Writer and Mom in the Making is about how she got into that whole "mom" mess in the first place.

And Town Hall hosts Henry Petroski. Essential Engineer is about how engineering could save the world with things like windmills, "synthetic trees," and enormous shades in outer space to protect us from the sun. Petroski wrote the very popular book about engineering failures, To Engineer Is Human.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
