As noted yesterday, the original Red Robin down by the University Bridge served its last burger last night. The guy who started the Facebook group "Don't close the ORIGINAL Red Robin Eastlake"—with 5,437 "devastated" members (14 of them new since yesterday at 6 p.m.)—did not appear to be there.

But Red the Robin—the giant-sneakered, blue-vested Red Robin mascot—was in the house. Here he/she/it is posing in the entryway with the original gangster Red Robin mascot, the one from way back when the place was a dive (and, by some accounts, a biker) bar. Note the old Red's bloodshot eyes, gape-beaked grin, and funny-looking cigarette. That bird is as high as a bird can be.

Out with the stoned old, in with the cross-eyed new.

There's a better photo of the old sign after the jump.
