On the heels of me mooning about the beauty of Eurotrash, I got word that King County Council member Kathy Lambert is hosting a talk this Friday called The Science, Politics, and Policy of Waste, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the King County Courthouse (in council chambers).

"We need to rethink our strategy for addressing non-recyclable waste," reads a flier for the event. (.pdf here)

The talk is billed as an "international symposium" with panelists including the executive director for the Institute of Environmental Research and Education, the former Minister of the Environment in Germany, a German Green Party leader. Basically, Europeans will be subtly gloating about how they manage waste while we take notes. We could learn a lot from their gloating.

If you can't make it down to the county courthouse, the international symposium will also stream live on Channel 22, buy a tub of Styrofoam packing peanuts popcorn and Tivo for later.
