The governor of Arizona says she "doesn't know what an illegal immigrant looks like." But she just signed a bill into law that requires Arizona police to demand "papers" from anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. I don't have any papers on me that prove I'm in this country legally—I'm assuming the MTA Metrocard and CTA Transit Card in my wallet don't cut it—but police officers in Arizona probably won't be asking palefaces like me for papers. Odds are good that they'll be going after brown people. Surprisingly, our brown president isn't pleased.
