Hello, Neighbor!
  • "Hello, Neighbor!"
Yesterday, two bodies were discovered at the Way West Motel on Aurora in what appears to be a grisley murder-suicide, reports Phinneywood blog. Preliminary investigations indicate that a man killed a woman, then turned the gun on himself. (In the sage, oft-repeated words of David Schmader, "When planning a murder-suicide, please do the suicide part first.") According to AuroraSeattle, neighbors in the adjacent motel room called the manager after "beginning to notice a stench." When the manager opened the door, neighbors reported seeing "two bodies slumped over and blood splattered all over the wall." In somewhat related news, construction delays on the new suicide prevention fence across the Aurora Bridge continue to grow, reports My Wallingford. It now appears that work won’t begin until mid-May; it was supposed to start April 19.

To the east, in what seems like a karmically-unwise move, thieves stole a much-beloved mosaic whale eye from the Magnuson Park Children’s Garden, reports Wedgwood View. The crime was apparently premeditated as the eye was sunk deeply in the ground with metal rebar and weighed over 75 pounds. And Central District News reports early morning violence yesterday: Around 11 a.m., a man walking on 24th Avenue fired two shots at a dog with a handgun and continued walking, injuring the innocent dog. The dog shooter and his handgun remain at large. In not-getting-away-with-it news, Friday evening in Ballard, a driver of a black truck reportedly smashed into a parked car, drove through a yard, smashed into a fence, and fled the scene. The getaway wasn't successful; MyBallard reports that police found a license plate that had fallen off the vehicle at the scene. And lastly, do you love suspiciously cheap food of questionable origin? A new Grocery Outlet will open on 8700 15th Ave NW, May 8, reports MyBallard. The store will celebrate its opening on Saturday, May 8 with games, give-aways and free food samples (!!).
