Yesterday, Gawker wrote about a woman named Diane Campbell. Campbell, who is on a fixed income, saved her money to buy an iPad. The Apple Store refused her because she was trying to pay for the iPad with cash.

Apple wants to keep Americans from re-selling the iPad overseas, where the tablet device is not available for a couple more weeks, a clerk told Campbell, who is disabled. Credit cards offer Apple the easiest way to positively identify people and enforce a limit of two iPads per customer.

Why is Apple being so fucking creepy these days? I understand that these are all supposedly mistakes or exceptions, but when you put all these things together, they're starting to look like Scientologists or something.
