More than two dozen supporters and family members of the five young girls Steven B. Joplin molested watched Tuesday as he admitted his guilt again in court. "I did it," said the former youth pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Staunton. Minutes later, Circuit Judge Humes J. Franklin Jr. sentenced the 60-year-old Joplin to 20 years in prison, suspending 10, on seven charges of aggravated sexual battery.... Previous testimony showed Joplin preyed on the girls, all between the ages of 10 and 13.... On Tuesday in Staunton Circuit Court, relatives of the victims testified about the effects of Joplin's actions. "She is worrisome," a mother said of her daughter, who is now in counseling. The woman said she viewed the church as a safe and fun place to send her three children to learn about God. "They weren't safe, and they weren't fun," she said.
