One thing I forgot to ask Hutcherson when he called me earlier this afternoon: What, exactly, was he thinking when he put this in his Stranger ad?

As we wrote in our rebuttal:

Rainbows are caused when sunlight passes through water droplets in the earth’s atmosphere. That sunlight gets refracted and reflected by the water droplets in a complicated way, producing a beautiful progression of colors that can be apprehended by the human eye. God doesn’t poop rainbows, and neither does this lobster:

Seeking some clarification, I sent the following e-mail query to Hutcherson's associate, Rachel Whaley, who was on the call with me and Hutcherson this afternoon:

What does Hutch mean by "God wants his rainbow back?"

Whaley quickly replied:

Good question…

Since we believe God created everything and every person, we believe that he created the rainbow as well, of course. In fact, here are the verses in Genesis that talk about the rainbow. These verses pertain to God’s promise after the flood that spared Noah and his family:

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which [is] between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant with every living creature of all flesh that [is] upon the earth. (Genesis 9:13-16, King James Version)

Essentially, the rainbow is the visible covenant God made to man and all the creatures on the earth that He would never again bring a flood like He did in Noah’s Day.

The rainbow is synonymous with gay pride therefore precluding it as a symbol that could be used by Antioch Bible Church for instance. God gave us (and you too) the rainbow, but we can’t really use it because of the cultural message it now carries.

Make sense the way I explained it?

I don't have any more time for this today, so I put it to y'all: Make sense the way she explained it?
