There's a lot going on tonight, but I'm just going to single out the readings that deserve your attention.

First, we have The Bar Room Writers Offensive at Barca. Local treasure Doug Nufer assembles writers together in a group reading that is loosely based on a theme. This particular Bar Room Writer's Offensive is themed: "FAST (stories), CHEAP (thrills), AND LOOSE (themes)." It will be interesting to see how a loose theme that partially incorporates a loose theme will play out. Readers this time include, Eric Greenwalt, Dave Johnston, Cristien Storm, and Mortimur K.

Ivan Doig reads at Third Place Books. Work Song is the newest novel by the very popular local author. It's about copper mining in Butte, Montana.

And Aaron Morales, Travis Nichols, and Paul Martinez Pompa read at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Nichols, a poet and Stranger contributor, will read with two other poets. All three of them are young. Young for poetry, that is; not, like, young-young.

I can't pick a reading of the night out of these three. Follow your heart.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here.
