Yesterday morning I tried, unsuccessfully, to eat a leftover blueberry pancake with no syrup in room #215 of The Thunderbird, at the Quileute Indian Reservation, better known as La Push Oceanside Resort. I couldn't put syrup on the pancake, because someone broke into our motel room and stole it. They took it while we sat around a beach fire watching the locals light off lots-and-lots-and-lots of 4th of July fireworks. In addition to a half empty bottle of maple syrup, they took my entire purse (including 200 dollars cash, a wallet full of credit cards, my photo ID, and a 3-week-old iPhone). They took another girl's bag that was staying in the room—her's had everything from a recent college graduation—an envelope with cash and lots of un-cashed personal checks. All the doors and windows were locked up tight when we got back to the room. No signs of forced entry. I noticed the next morning, that someone also 'keyed' my rental car. Left a long winding trail down the side of the driver's side door...
