Spent the weekend in a friend's family's cabin on Guemes Island off of Anacortes, where there are lots of dogs (I'm told that "dog island" is a nickname for the place). While the fireworks were going off, we were in a sauna in the middle of the woods, reading aloud the sex scenes from Heretics of Dune—ejaculation felt as a "hard slap!" something about a chain of red sausages!—and listening to the explosions.

Speaking of sausages, the food consumed over the weekend: lamb sausage, roast pork shoulder, salmon, various roasted vegetables (Brussels sprouts, beets, asparagus, potatoes, carrots, etc), crackers with cheese and strawberries, grapes, eggs and bacon, chips and salsa and guacamole, beer, box wine, the Spice.
