Seattle police had a standoff with a man on the fourth floor of the Biltmore Apartments on Capitol Hill and two shots were fired early this morning, reports Jen Graves, who is on the scene. Many residents of the massive brick apartment building are still standing on the sidewalk, waiting to be let back into their homes.

Officers surrounded the entire building around dawn, and they say that two people were apprehended.

The Seattle Police Department's media relations folks are reporting few details of the incident. As of 6:45 a.m., officers believed a man in his apartment was displaying "some suicidal tendencies and has access to a firearm," according to SPD spokesman Jeff Kappel.
