The Stranger Election Control Board is sitting down with Frank Chopp, most powerful person in the state legislature, representative of the notoriously progressive 43rd District, and famously timid moderate.

Put your question in comments and, if it's good, we'll ask him.

UPDATE: Best quote so far is about the BIAW's Initiative 1082, which would privatize the workers comp program, creating a boon for insurance companies. Chopp calls it "absolutely horrible a grab of power by insurance industries." So was it a mistake to move so slow in the legislature is addressing some of the issues with the workers comp program—creating an opening for this initiative?

"I wouldn’t call it a mistake just think we should have addressed it sooner," says Chopp. So not a mistake to move slow, but should have been done faster. Got it.

UPDATE 2: The answer to Cato's question: "Why don't Democrats have spines or balls."

"We do have spines," says Chopp. So no balls? "I personally do. We took very courageous votes this year. We raised $800 million for critical services, amended Eyman's initiative [960] and we clearly showed a bunch of spine on that. We clearly do."
