On Saturday, Scott Lawrimore sat in his great big gallery on Airport Way from 10 to 5:30, like every Tuesday through Saturday for the last five years. Everything was the same as usual, except he was wearing a tie and holding a notebook. The notebook said this.

It was the last day of Lawrimore Project 1.0, and it went by largely unremarked*, which was by design. Lawrimore's moving forward. His web site today simply says, "We are building a new gallery. It opens September 2nd." That new gallery is in Pioneer Square. That's all I know about it. It's under wraps.

So, farewell LP 1.0. I wrote part of the story of why it mattered here. And, knowing it was probably closing soon, I've been snapping pictures of it for sentimental reasons the past few months. A few of those pictures are on the jump.

*I tried to put up a post on Saturday morning at 10 that gave a hint of what was going on, but, as if fatefully, I mismarked the time signature, so it published Friday evening but was dated Friday morning, therefore disappearing into the Slog feed before it ever appeared. I didn't fix it.
