Tonight University Book Store hosts a memoir about having a premature baby and Elliott Bay Book Company hosts a poet. Plus, as they say, more!

Pilot Books is hosting what could become a new series tonight: The OPP Reading Series. OPP in this case stands for "other people's pieces," which means that people will read work written by other people that they like. Besides that rule, Pilot Books says that you should limit your reading to "about fifteen minutes," and that your reading "should be rehearsed." This sounds like a lot of fun to me.

And the Hugo House hosts a reading for a poetry anthology titled Starting Today: 100 Poems for Obama’s First 100 Days. A bunch of local poets, including Jeff Encke, Prageeta Sharma, and the awesome Pimone Triplett, will read their poems for or about Obama's first 100 days in office. In my opinion, poetry and politics go together as well as rye whiskey and brain surgery, but if you're looking to see local poets, this is the reading for you tonight.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
