Mayor Mike McGinn's new nightlife initiative that would—among other things—allow bars to serve liquor past 2:00 a.m. Proponents say his initiative would quell the 2:00 a.m. push-out of all Seattle's drinkers onto the streets, which is a logistical nightmare for police and clubgoers trying to get home. But the later people stay out drinking, the fewer transportation options they have to get home—light rail stops running shortly after midnight, King County Metro is cutting 310,000 hours of bus service annually, and "there are not even remotely enough taxis in this city," says James Keblas, director of the Office for Film and Music. "It’s universally accepted by everybody that there’s not enough."

So how does the mayor plan on improving Seattle's late-night transportation options? Come find out at Seattle's Nightlife Throwdown, on September 1 at 8:00 p.m. at the Hunter Gatherer Lodge on Capitol Hill. And if you've got an opinion on his plan, you can weigh in here. (yes, yes, we know—the mayor is trying to steal your identity)
