Since Michael Killoren announced he'd be leaving the city to work for the NEA, certain folks have been whispering that he might not be replaced (that'd be big line-item savings for the city's crunched budget) and that OACA would be folded into the Office of Economic Development (where the film and music office is located).

Both points of speculation are untrue. Aaron Pickus, the mayor's spokesperson, just called to report that a search committee would be convened to find Killoren's replacement and that OACA would remain independent.
