There are a ton of events today, including a neat-looking kid's event at Secret Garden, a book about a murderous elephant, a book about microstock photography, and a book about World War II.

Joseph Mattson reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Empty the Sun is a novel about a cross-country race. It is packaged with a CD soundtrack by a local band called Six Organs of Admittance. It's got that brutal language that might appeal to Palahniuk fans, or people who like Hunter S. Thompson more for the drug use than the political language. You can read the opening of the book here.

But the reading of the night is at Fantagraphics Bookstore. You'll Never Know is a two-part comic book memoir by Carol Tyler about her father. Tyler has done comics work for ages, but as far as I know, this is her longest work to date. She has a very sketchy, lively style that is utterly unlike most American comics.
