Readings season is back in full swing, kids. There are so many readings today—about a Transylvanian wedding, a homeless man's "inspirational journey," the financial collapse, and much more—that you'll have to go to our meticulously assembled readings calendar to get the full rundown. Here's what I find particularly interesting and therefore worth your while:

Deborah Willis reads at University Book Store tonight. Willis's new book, Vanishing and Other Stories, has 14 short stories in it. Each of these stories has something to do with a missing person. Reviews of the book are good.

Norman Fischer and Emily Warn will do a reading at Open Books up in Wallingford tonight. Fischer "is a Zen Buddhist priest as well as a poet." Warn's last book, Shadow Architect, was a very fine collection of poetry.

And if you're more into non-fiction, you should check out Town Hall tonight. Did you know that Arab nations used to love us? What the fuck happened? Maybe Ussama Makdisi, the author of Faith Misplaced: The Broken Promise of U.S.- Arab Relations, 1820-2001, can shed some light on the subject.

The aforementioned full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
