Back when I worked as a bookseller, publishers were always ridiculously hush-hush about the next Oprah Book Club book selection. They would mail the books in boxes covered with lurid text, threatening retailers not to open the boxes until a certain specified date. if any bookseller broke the embargo and put the books out early, or revealed to anyone what Oprah's next book is, the publisher would threaten lawsuits, or even vow to never sell books to that bookseller ever again.

Well, those days are long gone: Moby Lives offers photographic proof that Franzen's Freedom is Oprah's 2010 (and final?) book club selection. The choice will allegedly be announced by Oprah on Friday. The Oprah edition will reportedly cost a dollar more than the non-Oprah edition, so if you were interested in buying Freedom, I would recommend buying it before Friday.

UPDATE: Slog tipper Matthew notes that Criswell at HTMLGiant predicted this ages ago.
