He just left The Stranger offices—after a long discussion about "Don't Ask Don't Tell," the enthusiasm gap, Patty Murray vs. Dino Rossi, young voters, Republican liars, and his book, The Audacity to Win, which he'll be discussing tonight at Town Hall.

Yesterday, Sloggers gave me 35 questions to ask Plouffe during our sit-down. Here's one question, from commenter Corydon, that I read to Plouffe verbatim:

Dear Mr. Plouffe,

David Frum recently observed (when Robert Gibbs said the people who donated and volunteered for Obama in 2008 "needed to be drug tested") that "Repub pols fear the GOP base; Dem pols hate the Dem base."

Frum's clearly right; look at all of the promises broken (restoring civil rights, closing Gitmo) or flat out ignored (repealing DADT). So what's it going to take to engender a little fear of the base in Democratic pols?

For my part, the answer is a simple "No." No more money for the Democratic party or Obama. No more volunteering for anything but issue advocacy groups who can be trusted not to sell me out like Obama has.

Tell me why I'm wrong. Show me that Democrats do in fact respect and even fear the people they supposedly represent. Convince me that you don't hold me in contempt. I doubt you can.

Can he? Did he? Check back later today, when we'll start posting video of Plouffe's answers to this question and many others.
