Tonight we've got a sci-fi reading, a mystery reading, a couple of open mics, and two events I'm going to tell you more about.

Elizabeth Rosner reads at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. Rosner's first novel, Speed of Light, was a very good, lyrical debut. Her second novel is titled Blue Nude. It is at least a sexier title, unless the book is about Smurfs, in which case forget what I said about sexy.

And Isabel Wilkerson reads at the Northwest African American Museum tonight. Wilkerson is the author of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration. Wilkerson is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. Janet Maslin at the New York Times went crazy for this book. If non-fiction epics are your thing, this is the book for you.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
