The first debate between Democratic Senator Patty Murray and Republican challenger Dino Rossi was set a while ago. (Next Thursday, Oct. 14, in Spokane, 7 p.m., aired locally on KCTS-9.)

Now, according to the Murray campaign, the second debate has been set, too: Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., on KOMO 4.

The date of the second debate had been a sticking point in negotiations between the two campaigns. Murray's camp wanted it to happen before ballots were mailed, while Rossi's camp was pushing for later. Looks like the Murray camp pretty much got its wish, since ballots will just be going out when the second debate happens. Said Murray spokesperson Julie Edwards:

We wanted to do the debate this weekend [Oct. 17] so voters would have a chance to hear from the candidates before voting. And now they will.
