So in the past few weeks there have been articles stating that dinosaurs are both older and bigger than we thought.
On size, the NYT writes:
…a new study reports that the skeletons we see in museums should be as much as a foot taller than they are now. Dinosaurs, paleontologists write in the journal PLoS One, had thick pieces of cartilage between their joints that increased their height.
…which is funny since last year Science Daily reported:
Scientists have discovered that the original statistical model used to calculate dinosaur mass is flawed, suggesting dinosaurs have been oversized…
"By re-examining data in the original reference sample, we show that the statistical model is seriously flawed and that the giant dinosaurs probably were only about half as heavy as is generally believed," says Gary Packard from Colorado State University.
Meanwhile, adorable housecat-sized tracks of dinosaur ancestors were found, indicating that "Dinosaurs may have evolved from these small animals, which lived right after Earth's most severe extinction event."
