Three cool events today.

If there are children in your life today, you might want to go to Secret Garden Bookshop, where actors from Seattle Children’s Theatre will reenact the beloved children's book The Borrowers.

There will be a Suggests for The Bushwick Book Club coming up here any second, but let me repeat the press release, here: "[S]ongwriters will be performing original music based on the novel, Slaughterhouse-Five." I am totally sold, and you should be, too.

And at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight, it's time for The Novel: Live! Launch Party. This is a huge celebration in honor of The Novel: Live!, a week-long book-writing party. Tonight, they'll be finalizing information about the book tonight. The website says:

Nancy [Pearl] will auction off key elements of the novel-to-be, including character naming rights (even a character who must, somehow, get bumped off), the 36 Northwest authors will work into the story. A quick "shout-out" session of brainstorming from the audience will conclude this portion of the evening.

So if you'd like your idea permanently memorialized in a hastily written book, this is the event for you!

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
