There are a lot of events in the reading calendar tonight about the Yukon and panning for gold and the origins of the Northwest. And there are three more you should know about tonight, too.

Hugo House hosts the first edition of the new season of the Castalia Reading Series tonight. Castalia is a showcase for grad students in the Creative Writing Program at the UW and other UW-affiliated authors. Readers tonight include Rebecca Hoogs and Kate Lebo, who are both local writers you should know.

Leslie Marmon Silko is at the Central Library tonight. The author of the awesome book Ceremony reads from her new memoir The Turquoise Ledge. Sherman Alexie will be in attendance, too. This should be a very full house.

And Pilot Books is throwing an event to celebrate poet James Yeary. Here is the first stanza of a poem by Yeary titled "Fave": "he's got a woody/she's got a bicorneal/fistula." You hear that? Robert Frost just shat himself. What a beautiful sound.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
