We have a book about horses at Secret Garden books, librarians reading scary stories at the library at noon, and much more tonight.

Two discussions of important events at Town Hall tonight. Cristina Eisenberg, the author of The Wolf's Tooth: Keystone Predators, Trophic Cascades and Biodiversity, discusses what happens when you remove an animal from (or add an animal to) an ecosystem. And then Ingrid Betancourt, the author of Even Silence Has an End: My Six Years of Captivity in the Colombian Jungle, will discuss her captivity and her 2002 run for president.

Similar to Eisenberg's talk at Town Hall, Ravenna Third Place is hosting Science on Tap tonight. The topic is "A Global Shop of Horrors: Invasive Plants in an Era of Change."

And Yiyun Li reads at Elliott Bay tonight. Gold Boy, Emerald Girl is a collection of short stories by the celebrated writer.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here. And if you're planning on staying in and you're looking for personalized book recommendations, feel free to tell me the books you like and ask me what to read next over at Questionland.
