We have a class on journal writing at the Capitol Hill branch of the Library, and two events at Elliott Bay Book Company today.

Joel Richard Paul reads at Elliott Bay at 2 pm. The central story of Unlikely Allies: How a Merchant, a Playwright and a Spy Saved the American Revolution is right there in the title; you're interested or you're not. And then at 4 pm, Douglas Starr, who is the author of The Killer of Little Shepherds: A True Crime Story and the Birth of Forensic Science will discuss an infamous serial killer and the criminologist who pursued him. If you're into old-timey crime stories, like stuff about Jack the Ripper or Caleb Carr's The Alienist, this looks like something you might really enjoy.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here.
