It would be impossible to make this any cuter.* Every year, the Sheraton's kitchen staff teams up with local architecture firms to create incredible gingerbread houses; this year, the theme is "Home for the Holidays." Military personnel who are (yep) home for the holidays and children from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will be on hand today to officially open the village; it starts at 2 p.m. and runs through January 2. It's free, but if you don't make a donation to the JDRF after walking downtown in the snow to look at gingerbread houses, you are seriously a grinch.

Also: The mayor has declared today Seattle's official "Gingerbread Village Day." Maybe he'll show up at the opening as an extremely convincing Santa.

Lots more Chow events over here.

*Without ending war and diabetes.
