Distance is bad.

The other day while visiting the Picasso show at SAM, I was struck by how far away Seattleites stand from the paintings. People! Move in closer! Take your turn, and then back up again! Yes, I realize we all want to be polite, and we think, well, it is rude to block someone else's view, but this is just something you have to do. NOT getting close to the paintings is a travesty. You paid $23 to see paintings in person that you could easily see in reproduction, and you're standing there listening attentively to the audio guide go on in great detail about what's in front of you, and yet you're not going to MOVE UP TO THE PAINTING AND LEAN IN? People, when someone does this, IT IS NOT RUDE. It is the way art works. Now get in there.
