Somewhere in my computer there is an article about the sexual behavior of male orangutans (the "man of the forest").
My memory of that missing paper recalls it saying something about two types of male orangutans. One type sings to attract females. It sings and waits and hopes a female will be drawn to its song of love. The other type of orangutan rapes females. It sees a female and forces himself on her. If my memory is correct about this paper, there isn't a middle male, one that doesn't resort to art or crime to procreate.
