In case you missed the talk at the Henry with the recipients of the new Arts Innovator Award in December, the Seattle Channel has awesomely posted a video of the conversation. I love what Stadler says about innovation as a collective process, and art as a form of cultural R&D. My vision of innovation is very similar (but classy pot shot at the Genius Awards, Brixey)—something that happens in an always-shifting context. The modernist notion of innovation as novelty is a trap.
Also, I recently sat down with Leo Berk to talk about his definition of such—it has to do with problem-solving, as you'll see in the video—and about what he plans to do with the money. He's not sure yet but the options he's exploring look exciting, and may involve an RV. I can't wait to see.
