Elizabeth Campbell, head of Seattle Citizens Against the Tunnel (SCAT!), sent out a rah-rah email to supporters this afternoon announcing the group has collected approximately 6,000 more signatures than required for Initiative 101 to make the ballot. "We now have 26,116 signatures to turn-in; we estimate that we will have 27,000+ signatures to turn in on [February] 1st," she writes. The measure needs 20,629 valid signatures from Seattle voters to qualify.

If passed, I-101 would prohibit city contracts for the state's proposed deep-bore tunnel under downtown. I've written before about the potential legal shortcomings of this initiative and another anti-tunnel measure.
