Wait, what is Two Books Enter, One Book Leaves again?

It's a combination book swap meet/happy hour. You bring two books as your entry fee. Inside, you get access to tables full of books. There's also a bar. Buy a drink, walk around, chat with fellow book lovers, pick one book to take home with you. All the remaining books are donated to Friends of the Seattle Public Library, where they will be sold at their annual book sale. Funds from the sale go to SPL materials and programs.

When is it?

Tonight, from 5:30 to 8 pm at the Hugo House.

Do I have to bring novels?

Nope! Bring any kinds of books you want. The more variety, the better.

Can I bring more than two books?

Sure! They'll all go to a good cause at the end of the night.

I'm bringing really good books and I don't want to get shafted with a shitty book to take home. Are you sure there'll be a decent selection of books at this thing?

Yep. I'm bringing a couple armloads of books to prime the pump—way too many to list here, but there's some real quality stuff. And the Hugo House is kindly donating a bunch of books to the cause, too, including a few authors who have read at their big-name reading series. There'll be something for you to love, I promise.

Will I have to sit through a bunch of speeches and boring stuff like that?

Nope. It's really just a way for book-minded folks to get together over drinks and have a good time for a good cause. No gimmicks or tricks, no weird Scientology pitches at the end of the night. Just come and enjoy yourself.
