When the Washington Post profiled former Washington governor (and current Commerce Secretary) Gary Locke last month—calling him "the type of manager eager to know details and wring out new efficiencies"—I remember thinking: Weird.

I mean: How many stories have you read about Locke in the national press since he left town? To be honest, I'd almost forgotten Locke was the Commerce Secretary.

But now this business of publishing glowing Locke profiles is getting dangerously close to a trend. Yesterday, Politico announced that in business circles, Locke is seen as "Obama's Secret Weapon."
