It wasn't really Katie Couric's fault that Sarah Palin couldn't name a single newspaper, making her a national mascot for idiocy. Palin blamed the "gotcha" media even though she earned the position all on her own. It also wasn't really the mainstream media's fault that the Seattle Police Officers Guild, led by president Rich O'Neill, dug the union into a deep PR hole with deliberately divisive rhetoric in its union newspaper. Then there was an uproar or something. So was The Stranger and the Seattle Times—that gosh durn elite media—to blame for the "frenzy" that ensued that they created all on their own?

Oh well. To his credit, at least O'Neill can name two newspapers.
