No wonder Republican gubernatorial wannabe Rob McKenna doesn't want Democratic trackers and Stranger reporters covering his public events: He obviously wouldn't want one audience to hear what he's been telling the others.

For example, at his campaign kickoff event in June, McKenna focused on fiscal austerity, railing against out of control government spending while blaming state workers (like teachers) for the bulk our budget woes. Yet speaking before the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce this week, McKenna not only matter-of-factly acknowledged that state budgets tend to grow over time, he went into excruciating detail about how he wants to spend all this "new money": visiting nurses, early education, full day kindergarten, after-school programs and other socialist priorities that, well, we all agree with. Hell, keep it up, Rob, and you might even get The Stranger's endorsement!
