Earlier today I asked a hurried Dwight Pelz, chair of the State Democratic Party, whether he supports the Occupy Seattle protest.

"As I understand it," Pelz said.

Is the state party encouraging all Democrats in the state to get behind the movement?

"Not at this point."

Why?

“It’s happening very fast. We haven’t been contacted. I’m not saying it wouldn’t happen in the future.’

But if you at least tentatively support them, why haven't you done anything to show that support?

"Inertia."
