"Bridge Actions" are taking place throughout the nation today in support of the Occupy movement, and to demand that government put people back to work fixing crucial infrastructure like the thousands of crumbling bridges nationwide. After a vigorous debate on the Occupy Seattle Facebook page, and safety concerns expressed by the Seattle Police, the organizers of the Seattle event, Working Washington and the King County Labor Council, have moved their march from the Montlake Bridge to the even more decrepit University Bridge.

Protesters will start to rally at 3:30 p.m. at the corner of Montlake Blvd NE & NE Pacific Street, immediately across the street from Husky Stadium ("refreshments" will reportedly be served), and then the crowd will march to the University Bridge at 4:30, presumably taking the streets and blocking traffic. This is an organized rally, but unpermitted, so it will be interesting to see how the pepper-spray-happy SPD deals with the disobedience, civil or otherwise.
