Is it any wonder that Republicans are now flocking to Newt Gingrich? The general consensus is that Newt Gingrich is smart. He uses big words. He's got the condescending, huffy air of a college professor who just signed his first book deal. Gingrich is the anti-Cain. Once Republicans remember, though, that Gingrich was for an individual mandate before he was against it, that he has made some $37 million by talking to the health care industry, and that he made $1.6 million by advising Freddie Mac, in addition to all his other issues, their ardor will fade.
