Just one hour after New Year's Eve turned into New Year's Day, Seattle police responded to a call from a woman who reported that she was robbed after her lost cellphone was held for ransom.

According a police report, the woman had lost her phone in Pioneer Square earlier in the evening. Her friend received a phone call from an unknown man who said he had the phone and wanted a $15 reward for finding it. He wanted to meet in Renton, but the woman said there was no way she could get to Renton and asked if he could meet her in Pioneer Square. He agreed and said he would meet her in front of a nightclub called Volume.

The woman went to the ATM to get cash to pay the man. She withdrew $400 "since she also had to pay back her brother," the police report continues. While she was standing outside Volume a man approached her and said he had her phone. She went to pay him the $15 "when the male punched her with a closed fist in the left eye causing her to fall backwards." The suspect then grabbed the all the money she withdrew and fled. The report doesn't say if officers attempted to locate the suspect.
