Brendan covers the details of what's been happening over here, but it's definitely worth listening to TAL's dissection. It's riveting to hear the dead air as Daisey is directly confronted with the outright falsehoods in his story.
I'll also take a moment here to take issue with the headline in Slog's Morning News this morning (which echoes the AP story's headline), that Daisey admits to "taking shortcuts" in his play. He didn't take shortcuts, he lied. And it's not about what he said in his play, bad as that might be, but what he said on news programs and in interviews with news organizations. He wasn't "taking shortcuts" when he gave a false name for his translator so TAL fact-checkers wouldn't be able to find her to check his story, he was lying. Enough with the bullshit euphemisms.
Anyway, go and listen.
Also read Grist editor Scott Rosenberg's fantastic take on this. Extremely good. "...there’s no such thing as a neutral story. But there is such a thing as an honest story."
